Author: Stephanie Garber
Once Upon a Broken Heart, #1
Why I haven’t read this sooner? This book was amazing.
“Once Upon a Broken Heart” by Stephanie Garber weaves a spellbinding story of love, magic, and the power of second chances. Set in the enchanting world of the “Caraval” series, this standalone novel takes readers on a captivating journey. This story is filled with twists, secrets, and unexpected alliances.
Do you have to read Caraval first? No, but from what I heard, Caraval does give you an early insight into the world and gives a little background of Jacks. There is enough context in the story to jump into this world without having to read Caraval.
In this fantastical tale, we meet Evangeline Fox, a young woman desperate to mend her broken heart. After making a deal with the enigmatic Prince of Hearts, she finds herself caught in a web of intrigue. She must navigate a dangerous game to win back what she holds dear.
The romance in “Once Upon a Broken Heart” is both heart-wrenching and enchanting. Evangeline’s complex relationships with the captivating Prince of Hearts. Also, other intriguing characters add layers of depth and mystery to the story. Garber beautifully explores themes of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery, leaving readers with hope. And also the belief that true love can transcend even the darkest circumstances.
The author’s vivid descriptions paint a vivid picture of the whimsical settings, immersing readers in a world that is both familiar and extraordinary. The pacing is well-crafted, with suspenseful moments that keep readers eagerly turning the pages to uncover the next twist or revelation.
In conclusion, “Once Upon a Broken Heart” is a captivating fantasy romance that will enthrall fans of Stephanie Garber’s previous works and lovers of magical tales. With its engaging plot, memorable characters, and themes of love and redemption, this book is delightful and a must-read romantasy.
