Why I haven’t read this sooner? This book was amazing.

Do you have to read Caraval first? No, but from what I heard, Caraval does give you an early insight into the world and gives a little background of Jacks. There is enough context in the story to jump into this world without having to read Caraval.

Also, other intriguing characters add layers of depth and mystery to the story. Garber beautifully explores themes of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery, leaving readers with hope. And also the belief that true love can transcend even the darkest circumstances.

The author’s vivid descriptions paint a vivid picture of the whimsical settings, immersing readers in a world that is both familiar and extraordinary. The pacing is well-crafted, with suspenseful moments that keep readers eagerly turning the pages to uncover the next twist or revelation.
