Honest Book Review of Rings of Fate
‘I wanted to remember this. In the years to come, when I looked back at this moment, I would be glad that I’d taken the leap and jumped. This was the kiss to end all kisses. Demanding, urgent, and carnal.
I hated this male. Hated him with every fiber of my being. But curse me, I wanted him just as bad.’

Another day, another popular fantasy romance book was reviewed. I do have to say, after reading Quicksilver by Callie Hart, I get why. This was a fresh breath of fresh air because it was different when it comes to Fae. I can easily say that it is one of my favorite fantasy reads of 2024.
My only real complaint is that it just dragged a little in areas where I wonder if it could have been edited out. But all in all, it was good and I wouldn’t change a thing. If you like this, I would highly recommend reading Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry.
As you are reading, the world is starting to unfold and reveal itself to you which makes this fantasy book easier to digest when it comes to world building. As the main character sees it, so do you. But I do see more potential for the world to unfold more because throughout the story, it is revealed there is a lot going on.
I really love the dry humor banter from Fisher to Saeris. It was fun and I really love the dynamic between them throughout the story. I would say, they did come together a little too quick where it felt a little insta lovey. But the way it unfolded made sense and I was here for their relationship from the very beginning.
There are great side characters, adorable animal sidekicks, and a great balance between the romance and the action. This book has it all and I love it.
The ending of this book is what made this story super incredible and this makes me want the second book immediately. It ended well. So if you are debating on if this book is for you, I highly recommend reading this book to the very end before decided if this is for you or not.
This book is available to Kindle Unlimited if you want to try this book out. If you are unsure about getting Kindle Unlimited, read this article on 10 Reasons Why Kindle Unlimited is right for you.
I think Quicksilver is worth its time to read.

Saeris Fane has spent her life surviving in a brutal desert, stealing water and hiding the dangerous magic she was born with. But when a deadly encounter opens a gateway to a frozen Fae realm, she becomes entangled in an ancient conflict and accidentally binds herself to the dangerous Fae warrior known as Kingfisher. If Saeris wants to survive—and find her way home—she’ll have to trust the very man who might destroy her.

Zombie vampires that were apparently used to be fae or human. In this story, if the Vampire King fully turned you, you can be fully vampire no problem. But if he doesn’t, you become a mindless zombie vampire that you do his bidding for. How cool is that? Made my day when reading this.
Okay, so let’s start with the obvious and seems to be the biggest and overused trope when it comes to Fae. Saeris and Fisher are fated to be mates. *cue eye roll* but it’s like how at the end there was a twist where the god of chaos was trying to separate them but he couldn’t truly prevent them being together. Because Saeris and Fisher being together could mean the end of the world. Slightly dramatic with a Marvel End Game vibe but I love it. Interesting twist and I am here for it.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a fantasy romance if our shadow daddy Kingfisher didn’t give Saeris a nickname. The nickname is used so much that I almost forgot Saeris’ actual name because her name was completely replaced by the nickname. But I love how Fisher had a reason for the name and why he was afraid to speak her name out loud. Names are important and he wanted to use it when he felt sure he wanted to accept the mating bond.
The alchemist part of this story was so creative and an amazing part of the plot line. I wish we got to see more but I am happy with what Callie Hart delivered. It was cool to see magic in a different form. Where magic existed in metal or quicksilver where they have a personality and can communicate with the alchemist. I do hope we get more in the second book in the series since Saeris discovered how to make relics.
Since quicksilver is considered a portal to other worlds, it would be so cool that they go to other worlds to discover other creatures. I have this selfish hope that they land in a more contemporary urban fantasy setting that really throws them off. But we will see.
The ending, wow, really made it for me. A lot of plot reveals happened all at once and so much action that I was truly in awe of how this story unfolded.
First off, Belikon, Malcolm and Madra are related to one another. But I think it is just Madra and Belikon and Madra is in a relationship with Malcolm. Not sure, I got lost in that part but in the end Malcolm was killed thanks to Carrion Swift. Which is a plot hole because Belikon said that just one can die, they all have to die at the same time for it to work. But I guess that is bypassed because Malcolm drank the blood of an heir, which ended him. Maybe we will see more in the second book on how that was explained.
Another plot twist is Carrion Swift, who seemed like a disgusting and humorous side character to be an incredibly important one at the end there. He apparently has been a fae heir to the kingdom but was hidden in the human world to protect him. He lived thousands of years in that world….and no one questioned that he outlived many of them. That to me doesn’t explain much but I am not going to get hung up with the itty bitty details. Love to see how the author will take the Carrion Swift character in the next book.
Also, lets talk about this. Fisher found Carrion instead of Hayden when Saeris said to go get her brother. Now….could Carrion be her actual brother? I know it is mentioned by Fisher because they slept together. But Fisher is known to withhold information and he was very vague about how he found Carrion. So, I wonder what mystery lies in that.
Another plot twist is the god of chaos at the end talking to Saeris about the fate of the world and such. It was a little left field but I do wonder what part this ‘god’ will play in the upcoming books.
Also the end was *chefs kiss*. Saeris does come back as a new creature, half fae and half vampire. I do hope she will still keep her magical alchemist abilities. Oh and on top of that, since she killed Malcom the vampire king, she is now the vampire queen. *chills* I can’t wait.
There is so much to unpack from Quicksilver that I loved quite a bit of this story. I think it is worth the time to read this and it may be the next best fantasy read of 2024.
