Have you ever wanted to get into fantasy books but don’t know where to start? I can tell you, if you search fantasy books, only a BILLION options will pop up. But I have some good news for you, I have already read tons of fantasy and picked out a few that a beginner can start at.

These are the best fantasy novel recommendations of all time that I would recommend to someone getting into the fantasy genre.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

I found that Fourth Wing is a well loved book by almost every reader. I found that even people who never picked up a fantasy book loved this. It has dragons, high stakes, disability rep and my favorite, enemies to lovers.

Divine Rivals Rebecca Ross

Another booktok and bookstagram favorite. Divine Rivals dables in falling in love with letters through a magical typewriter. This has a unique blend of historical fiction and magic realism. The beautiful blend of writing and passion between the two main characters.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

If you like things a little twisted, then Caraval is the one for you. This book does have some trigger warnings such as physical abuse and death. So make sure to check that before reading. But I found this to be whimsical and I couldn’t put it down.

The Cruel Prince By Holly Black

True enemies to lovers fantasy romance that would have flying through the pages. Now, I will say that The Cruel Prince can be slightly hit or miss. You either love it or you don’t. But I recommend it because it is an easy read and has some amazing fantasy elements.

Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

If you had to choose between this one or Caraval, personally, I would choose to read this one first. Once Upon a Broken Heart is a slow-burn fantasy romance that will transport you to a magical world that you would never have thought to imagine. Lots of twists and turns and unexpected events.

A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova

What I love about A Deal with the Elf King is that the world-building is simple and the plot is so fun! This indie author knows how to give the readers what they want.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass

What a classic! I would say so since this has been around more than 10 years. If you want to dive into the Maas world, this book will be it. This doesn’t have intense world-building and one can easily fall in love with the FMC. You can also jump into A Court of Throne and Glass if you want more of the romance side of the fantasy genre.

Every one of these fantasy books is amazing and highly recommend reading any of them to start off your fantasy reading journey. Good luck!
