I’ll start by saying I’m not a die-hard Fourth Wing fan. I enjoy the series, but I’m also not someone who needs every single piece of bonus content that comes out.

That being said… I actually really enjoyed Threshing Day.

Getting the background stories of some of my favorite characters was easily the best part.

We get Threshing Day stories from Brennan, Mira, Xaden, Garrick, Dain, Bodhi, Imogen, Rhiannon, Sawyer, Ridoc, Liam, Sloane, and Aaric.

Some I was definitely more excited about than others, but I loved getting these little glimpses into their lives before Violet’s story took over.

I did this one on audio, and the different narrators were *chef’s kiss*. If I can recommend anything, get a membership of Audible and read the book that way!

Having multiple voices for all these different characters made the stories feel more individual and honestly helped with something that could have easily become repetitive.

Audible did help me get past my one and only complaint though. The storytelling did start to feel slightly repetitive.

It’s Threshing Day… over and over again. 😂

Different characters, different experiences, different dragons, but we’re still revisiting the same event. After a while, you definitely start to feel it.

And I’m going to say it: part of me wonders if this is a little bit of a cash grab to keep Fourth Wing fans satisfied while we wait for book four.

Did it work?

Well… I gave it four stars, so apparently.

I also really appreciated the spoiler warnings for Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm.

Since these stories jump between different characters and points in the series that can spoil it for the reader if they haven’t read the series yet.

Now, will I probably buy the physical book even though I already listened to it?

I made the mistake of looking at Bookstagram and seeing the dragon artwork inside the book.

Unfortunately, yes I will be buying the book and regret not pre-ordering the special edition with sprayed edges.

Instant FOMO. Instant purchase.

So overall, Threshing Day isn’t something I would consider essential reading, but if you already love these characters, it’s a fun way to get more of their stories.

The audiobook was especially well done, and apparently the physical edition knows exactly how to get me too.
