I enjoyed Servant of Earth, but Princess of Blood took everything I liked about the first book and made it even better.
This book is definitely darker fantasy than Servant of Earth. There is more violence, more betrayal, and so much more happening politically. Kenna is no longer just trying to survive the fae world. She is now the princess of the reborn Blood House, and everyone wants something from her.
With the king dead and multiple people fighting for the throne, Kenna has to decide who she can trust and where her loyalty belongs. The political intrigue really drove the plot this time, and I was completely invested in all the alliances, secrets, and power struggles.
And the romance?!
AMAZING.
The romantic tension was exactly what I wanted, and the forbidden part of the relationship made everything even better. With so many people hiding their true intentions, I was constantly questioning what was real, who was using whom, and whether trusting anyone in this world was a terrible idea.

Kenna also felt stronger and more confident in this book. She is still figuring out her powers and what it means to lead Blood House, but she is no longer the same woman we met at the beginning of Servant of Earth. I loved watching her step into her new role while still trying to protect the people she cares about.
This sequel had everything I wanted: a darker story, political intrigue, dangerous alliances, morally gray characters, betrayal, and a romance that had me completely hooked.
But THE ENDING!!!
My jaw literally dropped.
I thought I knew where the story was going, and then Sarah Hawley completely pulled the rug out from under me. I just sat there staring at my Kindle because WHAT WAS THAT?!
Princess of Blood was easily better than the first book, and now I need the next one immediately. Five stars. No notes. Just give me more.
